The Magic of Fashion Films

Fashion films are not a new invention of today’s modern times. In fact, the first fashion film was published in 1967 by Peggy Moffit and her husband William Claxton. Unfortunately, fashion films can’t reach the fame and success of the fashion brands’ ordinary publicity campaigns. However, fashion films are true feasts for the eyes. Check out my Top 5.

Balmain’s Wolves by Steven Klein

This fashion film is visually and musically a must-see, including the collaboration of Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, Sia and Vic Mensa and the presentation by Jourdan Dunn, Joan Smalls and Jon Kortajarena.

Gucci’s Autumn/Winter 2016 campaign by Glen Luchford

A colourful fashion film, inspired by the frenetic city Tokyo.

Burberry’s The Tale of Thomas Burberry by Asif Kapadia

A little time travel: Asif Kadapia manages to explain Burberry’s history of 160 years in only 3 minutes. This fantastic fashion film shows Thomas Burberry’s history, founder of the fashion brand. Kapadia, winner of an Oscar, includes Sienna Miller and Domhnall Gleeson.

Kenzo’s The New Fragrance by Spike Jonze

Although this fashion film seems to start boring, it turns out to be special and crazy.

Marc Jacobs’ Autumn/Winter 2016 campaign by Hype Williams

Anna Cleveland, Cara Delevingne and Marilyn Manson represent different cultural figures of today’s era and of the age of the brand’s foundation.
